ZOBERT is a Beta-lactam antibiotic and Beta-lactamase inhibitor available as Injections
  • Each vial contains:
  • Cefoperazone Sodium IP (Sterile) EQ. To Anhydrous Cefoperazone 1gm
  • Sulbactam Sodium USP (Sterile) EQ. To Anhydrous Sulbactam 0.5mg
  • Each Ffs Ampoule Contains:
  • Sterile Water For Injections IP 10ml

Zobert is a brand of Cefoperazone & Sulbactam

Cefoperazone, a bactericidal antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis of actively dividing cells by binding to one or more penicillin binding proteins (PBPs).

Sulbactam is a ß-lactamase inhibitor and acts primarily by irreversible inactivation of ß-lactamases.

Adults: The usual adult dose of the combination is 2 to 4 g/day (i.e, 1-2 g/day each of Cefoperazone and Sulbactam) given IV or IM in equally divided doses every 12 hours. In severe or refractory infections the daily dosage may be increased to 8g (i.e, 4g/day each of Cefoperazone and Sulbactam) given IV in equally divided doses every 12 hours. The recommended maximum daily dosage of Sulbactam is 4g (8g of the combination).

Children: The usual dosage in children is 40-80mg/kg/day (20 to 40 mg/kg/day each of Cefoperazone and Sulbactam) every six to twelve hours. In serious or refractory infections, these dosages may be increased up to 240mg/kg/day (160 mg/kg/day cefoperazone activity). Doses should be administered in two to four equally divided doses.
Use in Neonates: For neonates in the first week of life, the drug should be given every 12 hours. The maximum daily dosage of sulbactam in pediatrics should not exceed 80 mg/kg/day.

Zobert Injection is used in the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms:

  • Bacterial infection of the respiratory tract
  • Peritonitis
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Endometritis
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Septicemia
  • Bacterial infections
  • Intra-abdominal infections
  • Gynecological infections
  • Skin or soft tissue infections
  • Surgical infections

It may not be recommended to consume Zobert Injection if you have the following diseases, medical or physical conditions:

  • Already taking any other antibiotic like aminoglycosides or other cephalosporin's
  • Asthma
  • History of allergy due to cefoperazone
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Kidney or gastrointestinal disease

Please consult your doctor if you observe any of these side effects even in mild form:

  • Decrease in white blood cells
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Transient increases in urea nitrogen
  • Creatinine levels in blood

Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless the packaging or storage instructions clearly require you to do that. Keep medicines away from children and pets to prevent them from accidental consumption.
