Emnil Injection contains Ondansetron hydrochloride

Ondansetron is selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. Ondansetron is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.

Ondansetron (75%) was shown to be the treatment most likely to be effective compared with metoclopramide (20%), dexamethasone (6%) or placebo (0%) vomiting with acute gastroenteritis in children.

Usual Adult Dose for Nausea/Vomiting – Postoperative:

  • Parenteral:
  • Recommended dose: 4 mg IV (undiluted) immediately before induction of anesthesia or postoperatively (nausea and/or vomiting within 2 hours after surgery)
  • Alternative route: 4 mg IM (undiluted)

Usual Pediatric Dose for Nausea/Vomiting - Postoperative

  • Parenteral:
  • 1 month to 12 years:
  • Less than 40 kg:
  • Recommended dose: 0.1 mg/kg IV over 2 to 5 minutes immediately prior to/following anesthesia induction or postoperatively (nausea and/or vomiting occurring shortly after surgery)
  • 40 kg and greater:
  • Recommended dose: 4 mg IV over 2 to 5 minutes immediately prior to/following anesthesia induction or postoperatively (nausea and/or vomiting occurring shortly after surgery)

Usual Pediatric Dose for Nausea/Vomiting - Chemotherapy Induced

  • Parenteral:
  • 6 months to 18 years:
  • Recommended dose: 0.15 mg/kg IV, with the first dose (infused over 15 minutes) 30 minutes before the start of emetogenic chemotherapy, and subsequent doses given 4 and 8 hours after the first dose
  • Maximum dose: 16 mg (per dose)

Emnil Injection is used in the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms:

  • Nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy or radiotherapy
  • Cyclic vomiting syndrome
  • Hyperemesis Graviderum
  • Post-operative nausea and vomiting
  • GERD

It may not be recommended to consume Emnil MD Tablet if you have the following diseases, medical or physical conditions:

  • Extrapyramidal Reaction
  • Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome
  • Chronic Heart Failure
  • Severe Liver Disease
  • Low Amount of Magnesium in the Blood
  • Low Amount of Potassium in the Blood

Please consult your doctor if you observe any of these side effects even in mild form:

  • Diarrhea
  • headache
  • fever
  • lightheadedness
  • dizziness
  • drowsiness
  • constipation
  • rash
  • blurred vision
  • muscle spasm

Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless the packaging or storage instructions clearly require you to do that.
